Softball Recap: Washburn Takes a Loss

Washburn dropped to 4-5 on Monday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They came up short against the Fort Fairfield Tigers, falling 12-2. The matchup marked the Beavers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Yrah Tismo was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Tismo is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Scarlett Harris, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for Fort Fairfield, the win keeps them at an undefeated 10-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 11.9 runs this season.

On Fort Fairfield's side, Isabella Winters was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Winters was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with five RBI and one double. That double was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Addison Cole was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Emma Kelley was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Coincidentally, Washburn and Fort Fairfield will both be playing Katahdin the next time they take the field. The Tigers will host the Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, while the Beavers will host them at 4:00 p.m. on the 26th.
