Baseball Recap: Elkmont Starts off Right with Win over Pennington

Elkmont had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Pennington Tigers by a score of 8-4 on Saturday. For the Red Devils, this counts as revenge for the 4-3 victory the Tigers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in March of 2024.

Jake Hargrove looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, Jake Guthrie was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Pennington's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coincidentally, Elkmont and Pennington will both be playing Cleveland the next time they take the field. Elkmont will head out to face Cleveland at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Pennington will play them later in the day, at 11:00 a.m.
