After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Jay, Freeport was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They came out on top against the Northview Chiefs by a score of 36-26. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Bulldogs considering their six-point performance the matchup before.
Freeport found their leader in underclassman Caleb Leonard, who threw for 296 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per attempt, and also picked up 83 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Leonard didn't just play on offense: he also made five total tackles and defended three passes. A healthy portion of that aerial production (136 yards to be exact) also went to Julius Miles.
Freeport wouldn't let Northview keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force three fumbles. It was truly a group effort as Blake O'Donnell, Zakade Schiro, and AJ Buttler picked up one apiece.
