Basketball Recap: Clayton Extends Home Winning Streak to Six

There's no place like home for Clayton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 49-39 victory over the East Wake Warriors on Tuesday. That's more bragging rights for the Comets, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

When it comes to explaining why East Wake lost, don't look at Norman Eleby. Despite the final result, he shot 63% from the field to rack up 12 points and six rebounds. Eleby also put up two steals, which were his first of the season. Caden Midgette was another key player, putting up 14 points and eight boards.

Clayton's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.7 points over those games. As for East Wake, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Looking ahead, Clayton will be playing in front of their home fans against Harnett Central at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Comets will be up against the Trojans' rather soft defense (which has allowed 68.25 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for East Wake, they will be taking part in a tournament against Chapel Hill at 12:30 p.m. on Friday.
