Volleyball Recap: Oakland/Kansas/Shiloh Comes Up Short

Oakland/Kansas/Shiloh was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Argenta-Oreana Bombers. The Titans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bombers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

While Oakland/Kansas/Shiloh ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 17 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-17.

Their offense was headlined by Cara Phillips and Taylor Williams, who picked up three kills apiece. They got some help from Brookelyn Gough and her nine assists. Rylee Hill controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

Oakland/Kansas/Shiloh's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Argenta-Oreana, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-11.

Oakland/Kansas/Shiloh and Argenta-Oreana could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Titans will challenge Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank disadvantage (509 vs. 127). Meanwhile, Argenta-Oreana (ranked 373rd) will meet Maroa-Forsyth (ranked 136th) at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
