Softball Recap: Lyons Comes Up Short

Lyons dropped their record down to 10-14 on Tuesday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 14-4 to the Glenbard West Hilltoppers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hilltoppers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 8-6 last Monday.

Ava Jacklin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Isabella Evans, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.

As for Glenbard West, they pushed their record up to 17-6 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs on average over those games.

On Glenbard West's side, they got a great performance from Olivia Salerno as she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up four earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Ainslie Bobroff was a standout: she fired off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-3. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April. Megan Stieglitz was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI.

Coincidentally, Lyons and Glenbard West will both be playing Oak Park-River Forest the next time they take the field. The Lions will host the Huskies at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, while the Hilltoppers will head out to face them at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
