Softball Recap: Plano Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Plano had to endure a ten-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Harvard Hornets on Monday. The Reapers not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since April 14th (when they won 19-3).

McKenzie Straussberger spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chloe Rowe, who went 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Chesney Schimandle also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Plano's win bumped their record up to 6-17. As for Harvard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Plano will challenge Richmond-Burton at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Reapers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rockets have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Harvard, they will square off against Johnsburg at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The last four games the Skyhawks have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
