Baseball Game Preview: Mount Pleasant Tigers vs. North Stanly Comets

The Mount Pleasant Tigers will take on the North Stanly Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Mount Pleasant gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Rowan, sneaking past 3-1.

Mount Pleasant got a great performance from Luke Burris as he didn't allow a single earned run over 6.2 innings pitched. What's more, Burris posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Gabe Shackelford, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddox Harwood, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, North Stanly strolled into their game on Tuesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 4-3 W against Mount Pleasant.

North Stanly's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 18-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Mount Pleasant, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.
