Softball Game Preview: Eastmont Wildcats vs. Sunnyside Grizzlies

Eastmont is a perfect 10-0 against Sunnyside since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Grizzlies at 3:00 p.m. Eastmont is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.9 runs per game this season.

Eastmont will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one run on Tuesday, then bounced right back against West Valley on Tuesday. The Wildcats put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won eight games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Brittany Howe was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Halle Radach was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Liz Fulbright was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one triple.

Eastmont always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, Sunnyside didn't have quite enough to beat West Valley on Thursday and fell 9-7. The Grizzlies have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Eastmont is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.4 runs on average over those games. As for Sunnyside, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

Everything went Eastmont's way against Sunnyside in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Eastmont made off with an 8-2 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
