Basketball Recap: Osborne Comes Up Short

Osborne was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their eighth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Hillgrove Hawks and fell 88-58. While losing is never fun, the Cardinals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while the Hawks are ranked 39th).

Despite the defeat, Osborne had strong showings from Kristian Stewart, who went 6 for 12 en route to 18 points and five rebounds, and Jeremiah Waters, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points. The dominant performance gave Stewart a new career-high in points. D?Qori Abanikanda was another key player, putting up ten points and five assists.

Leading Hillgrove to victory were Bryson Jatta and Asa Montgomery. Jatta went 12 of 18 en route to 32 points and five steals, while Montgomery dropped a double-double on 30 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Jatta is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Johnson, who posted ten points.

Osborne's loss dropped their record down to 3-15. As for Hillgrove, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4.

Osborne has already played their next game, a 59-53 defeat against Paulding County on the 22nd. As for Hillgrove, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 49-43 loss against Campbell on the 21st.
