Basketball Recap: East Bakersfield Takes a Loss

After flying high against West last Friday, East Bakersfield came back down to earth. The East Bakersfield Blades received a blow on Wednesday as they fell 66-49 to the Del Oro Suns.

Del Oro had a senior duo take command as Gabriel Bocardo dropped a double-double on 23 points and 16 rebounds and Jorge Castillo almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bocardo has scored all season. Keenan Starling was another key player, putting up 13 points along with five assists and five boards.

East Bakersfield has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-11 record this season. As for Del Oro, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Bakersfield will head out to take on Tehachapi at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Del Oro, they will take on Golden Valley at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Del Oro's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five matches.
