Tohatchi hadn't done well against Zuni recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Cougars walked away with a 5-2 win over the Thunderbirds. The victory was nothing new for the Cougars as they're now sitting on three straight.

Amir Woodie spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on three hits and racked up 14 Ks. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Tohatchi let Thurmond Bitsie and Tatum Bitsie run wild. Thurmond went 1-for-2 with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Tatum went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Thurmond has posted since back in April of 2025.

Tohatchi's record is now 6-2. As for Zuni, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season.

Zuni is taking a road trip to face off against Wingate at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tohatchi will be paying especially close attention to the Thunderbirds' contest: after the Thunderbirds face off against the Bears, they'll take on Tohatchi again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
