Baseball Recap: Berea Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Owsley County, Berea was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They came out on top against the Somerset Christian Cougars by a score of 9-5. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 9-0 last Tuesday.

Berea let Nathan Prophitt and Tommie Banderman run wild. Prophitt went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple, while Banderman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Banderman is becoming a predictor of Berea's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is 3-1 (and 6-7 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Luke Campbell, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double.

Berea now has a winning record of 9-8. As for Somerset Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-15.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Berea will head out to square off against Frankfort at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Somerset Christian, they will venture away from home to take on Metcalfe County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
