Basketball Recap: Steinbrenner Gets the Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Steinbrenner had no problem doing just that on Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Hollins Royals, sneaking past 54-51. The Warriors didn't have much to brag about two games back, but this victory makes it their second in a row.

Douglas Jordan went supernova for Steinbrenner, going 8 of 12 en route to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Jordan is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brady Griffin, who posted nine points along with five rebounds and three steals.

When it comes to explaining why Hollins lost, don't look at George Montgomery. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points in addition to six assists and five steals. David Avila was another key player, putting up eight points and three blocks.

Steinbrenner's record is now 8-18. As for Hollins, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 11 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-15 record this season.

Steinbrenner will take on East Lake at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. East Lake is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.1 points per game this season. Hollins does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
