Baseball Recap: Worthington Christian Victorious

Worthington Christian's game last Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Columbus Academy Vikings. This was a revenge game for the Warriors: when they faced off against the Vikings last Friday, they had to take a 10-0 defeat.

Hunter Doran made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Worthington Christian is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-3 otherwise. Doran was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-4. That stolen base was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Asher Doran was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Caden Demmer was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Worthington Christian's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Columbus Academy, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Worthington Christian will take on Centennial at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Stars have averaged an impressive 8.4 runs per game this season. As for Columbus Academy, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Whitehall-Yearling at 5:15 p.m.
