Softball Game Preview: Jacksonville Fightin' Indians vs. Whitehouse Wildcats

The Jacksonville Fightin' Indians will square off against the Whitehouse Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jacksonville is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Jacksonville fell victim to Lufkin and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 15-0 to the Panthers. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Fightin' Indians' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Whitehouse, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They blew past Marshall 11-1 on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by ten runs or more this season.

Taylor Morris made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over six innings pitched. Morris was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shilee Yutterman, who fired off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Paige Goodell, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Whitehouse's victory bumped their record up to 17-7. As for Jacksonville, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
