Football Recap: Lake Havasu Starts Season with Win at Home

Lake Havasu took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Gila Ridge Hawks by a score of 21-12. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Knights also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.

Among those leading the charge was Tripp Burke, who threw for 164 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 36 yards. Luke Johnson was in the mix as well, providing Lake Havasu with two scores.

Lake Havasu didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Gila Ridge to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Knights weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 59.5%.

Lake Havasu didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Spencer Ibarra led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lake Havasu will host Mohave at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Gila Ridge, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Greenway at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
