Football Game Preview: Cochranton Cardinals vs. Cambridge Springs Devils

The Cochranton Cardinals are taking a road trip to challenge the Cambridge Springs Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with four losses in a row, Cochranton turned things around against Saegertown two weeks ago. They walked away with a 24-14 victory over the Panthers.

Cochranton got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Noah Carroll out in front who threw for 211 yards and one touchdown while completing 75% of his passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. The dominant performance also gave Carroll a new career-high in passer rating (125.2). A healthy portion of Carroll's aerial production (87 yards to be exact) went to CJ Shorts, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Cochranton's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Walker Carroll, Bradley Counselman, and Cole Schmitt, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, Cambridge Springs took their game on Friday with ease, bagging a 46-7 victory over Union City. The Devils have beaten the Bears the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Bears has come to flipping the script.

The win got Cochranton back to even at 4-4. As for Cambridge Springs, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.

Cochranton was taken down by Cambridge Springs 41-12 in their previous meeting on October 3rd. Can the Cardinals avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
