Softball Recap: Cape Henlopen's Undefeated Season over After 19 Games

Cape Henlopen made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Lake Forest, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings fell just short of the Spartans by a score of 4-2 on Monday. The Vikings haven't had much luck with the Spartans recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.

Abby Marsh spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Cape Henlopen saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abi Crouch, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Ava Calciano was another, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Having lost for the first time this season, Cape Henlopen fell to 18-1. As for Lake Forest, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-1.

As of now, neither Cape Henlopen nor the Spartans have any future games scheduled.
