The team relied heavily on Katelyn Knox, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three stolen bases and four runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Natalie Bunting, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
North East Carolina Prep always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .576. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Hobgood Charter, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Mattamuskeet on Thursday as they made off with a 15-5 win. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Haleigh Eason was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). Eason was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and three RBI.
In other batting news, Kinsey Peel was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, four runs, and two stolen bases. Emma Rae Cannon was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one triple and two RBI.
North East Carolina Prep's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-8. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Hobgood Charter, their win bumped their record up to 8-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. North East Carolina Prep has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hobgood Charter struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
North East Carolina Prep came up short against Hobgood Charter when the teams last played back in March, falling 7-2. Can the Husky avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
