Softball Game Preview: Mardela Warriors vs. Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings

The Mardela Warriors will head out to face off against the Cambridge-South Dorchester Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mardela had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 24-run drubbing they dealt Wicomico on Tuesday. The Warriors never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 24-0 win. The Warriors have beaten the Indians the last seven times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Indians has come to flipping the script.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Cambridge-South Dorchester and St. Michaels meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Monday. The Vikings were the clear victors by a 13-2 margin over the Saints.

Mardela's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Cambridge-South Dorchester, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Everything went Mardela's way against Cambridge-South Dorchester in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as Mardela made off with a 10-0 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Vikings have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
