Baseball Recap: Cornerstone Charter Comes Up Short

Cornerstone Charter was the 6-4 winner over Leadership Academy when they last played one another last Tuesday, but their luck changed this time around. Cornerstone Charter fell 6-2 to Leadership Academy on Friday. The Cardinals have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cornerstone Charter saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jackson Shaffrey, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Cornerstone Charter's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Leadership Academy, with the victory, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 4-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cornerstone Charter will venture away from home to take on Southern Guilford at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Leadership Academy, they will head out to square off against Asheboro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
