Softball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Stuarts Draft's Sixth in Last Eight Outings

Stuarts Draft's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Waynesboro Little Giants as they made off with a 16-6 win. Considering the Cougars have won five matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Karlee Layne was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madison Mason, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with four runs and one triple.

Stuarts Draft is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.6 runs over those games. As for Waynesboro, they dropped their record down to 0-10 with the defeat, which was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Stuarts Draft will square off against Page County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Waynesboro, they will face off against Wilson Memorial at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
