Softball Game Preview: Orange Cove Titans vs. Fowler Redcats

The Orange Cove Titans will venture away from home to square off against the Fowler Redcats at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Orange Cove's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over Farmersville. Winning may never get old, but the Titans sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

The team relied heavily on Danika Del Bosque, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Allyanah Cano, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.

Meanwhile, Fowler got the win against Caruthers on Thursday by a conclusive 7-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Redcats.

The result came thanks to Jaelyn Quintana's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, Andreya Mendoza and Natalie Gonzales did most of the damage at the plate: Mendoza scored a run while going 3-for-4, while Gonzales scored a run while going 3-for-3.

Fowler hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Fowler's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Orange Cove, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.

Orange Cove couldn't quite finish off Fowler in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Titans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
