Baseball Recap: Aitkin Beats Mesabi East for Their Third Straight Win

Aitkin had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They put the hurt on the Mesabi East Giants with a sharp 14-7 victory. Considering the Gobblers have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Aitkin got a massive performance out of Cole Trotter, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of John Pelarski, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

Aitkin's win bumped their record up to 12-5. As for Mesabi East, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-9.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Aitkin will head out to square off against Hinckley-Finlayson at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Mesabi East, they will venture away from home to take on Greenway/Nashwauk-Keewatin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
