Basketball Game Preview: Kotzebue Huskies vs. Barrow Whalers

Kotzebue is 1-9 against Barrow since February of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The two teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest, having both just played.

Kotzebue is headed into Saturday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 68-63 heartbreaker at the hands of Barrow. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alaska basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the Whalers are ranked 18th).

Barrow is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.1 points over those games. Kotzebue's loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
