Softball Game Preview: Susquehanna Sabers vs. Blue Ridge Raiders

Susquehanna hasn't had much luck against Blue Ridge recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Sabers will host the Raiders at 9:30 a.m.

Susquehanna blew Forest City out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Forest City got their revenge. The Sabers fell just short of the Foresters by a score of 5-3.

Susquehanna saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lauren Huyck, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those doubles marked the first that Huyck has hit this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Blue Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They never let Lackawanna Trail get on the board and left with a 4-0 victory on Wednesday.

Hailey Carpenetti made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Carpenetti was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Mel Bloomer was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Blue Ridge's win bumped their record up to 4-9. As for Susquehanna, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.

Blue Ridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Susquehanna hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .316. It's a different story for Blue Ridge, though, as they've only averaged .243. Will they be able to contain Susquehanna's hitters?
