Volleyball Game Preview: Monroe Catholic Rams vs. Valdez Buccaneers

Monroe Catholic hasn't had much luck against Valdez recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Rams will look to defend their home court against the Buccaneers at 6:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Monroe Catholic sitting on five straight wins and Valdez on six.

Monroe Catholic will bounce into Friday's contest after beating North Pole, who they had gone 1-7-1 against in their nine prior meetings. The Rams walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Patriots on Tuesday.

Monroe Catholic had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-18.

Meanwhile, Valdez made easy work of Hutchison two weeks ago and carried off a 3-0 win.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Valdez was: they took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-15, 25-13, 25-6.

Monroe Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 9-2-2. As for Valdez, their win bumped their record up to 24-7.
