Softball Recap: Tuscarora Finds Home Field Redemption Against Loudoun County

There's no place like home for Tuscarora, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Loudoun County Captains a 5-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Huskies haven't had any issues with the Captains recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.

The result came thanks to Peyton Travis's shutout, as she gave up just six hits and racked up 12 Ks. Those 12 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Whitney O'Neill, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two doubles, and two RBI. She also put up a run, which was her first of the season. Chloe Wools was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

O'Neill wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Tuscarora lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The victory got Tuscarora back to even at 2-2. As for Loudoun County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 5-2 record.

Tuscarora will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Millbrook at 6:30 p.m. on the 21st. As for Loudoun County, they will head out to square off against Briar Woods at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Captains 3.1, the Falcons 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
