Soccer Game Preview: Vista vs. Canyon Crest Academy

The Vista Panthers will face off against the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vista's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Vista's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against El Camino, sneaking past 1-0. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 329th, while the Wildcats are ranked 695th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, everything went Canyon Crest Academy's way against Sage Creek on Wednesday as Canyon Crest Academy made off with a 3-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ravens.

Canyon Crest Academy has also been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3-1 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those four matchups. As for Vista, they now have a winning record of 6-5-2.

Vista was able to grind out a solid win over Canyon Crest Academy when the teams last played back in February of 2024, winning 3-1. Will Vista repeat their success, or does Canyon Crest Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
