Softball Recap: Somonauk Has No Trouble Against Hiawatha

Somonauk won against Hiawatha last Monday with 17 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Bobcats put the hurt on the Hawks with a sharp 17-2 win. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

Kayla Anderson was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Anderson was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Ashley McCoy was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with five RBI and two runs. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Brooklyn Eads was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Somonauk kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Somonauk's record is now 4-7. As for Hiawatha, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Somonauk will square off against Rochelle at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Hiawatha, they will challenge Parkview Christian Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Falcons have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 21.17 runs per game on average), something the Hawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
