Preview: Mt. Olive Wildcats vs. Pawnee Indians
The Mt. Olive Wildcats on the road again on Monday and play against the Pawnee Indians at 6:00 p.m. on January 29th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Mt. Olive scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 58-20 win over Dupo. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 33-11.
Meanwhile, Pawnee waltzed into their match back in December of 2023 with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Sangamon Valley/Tri-City 51-12 on the road. That 39 points margin sets a new team best for Pawnee this season.
Mt. Olive's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Pawnee, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-1.
Mt. Olive didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Pawnee when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 38-34 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mt. Olive since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
