Baseball Recap: Lancaster Mennonite Victorious

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Columbia, Lancaster Mennonite was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the High Point Baptist Academy Eagles 8-7.

Landon Nyveldt made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted three strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Brady Kinney was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Lancaster Mennonite's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-11 when he doesn't).

Lancaster Mennonite's record now sits at 5-11. As for High Point Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 12-7.

Coincidentally, Lancaster Mennonite and High Point Baptist Academy will both be playing Christian School of York the next time they take the field. The Blazers will host Christian School of York at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, while the Eagles will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
