Softball Game Preview: Fairport Red Raiders vs. Irondequoit Eagles

Fairport is a perfect 3-0 against Irondequoit since May of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Red Raiders will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Fairport's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home (dating back to last season) while Irondequoit has been banged up by 11 consecutive losses on the road also dating back to last season.

On Wednesday, Fairport came up short against St. Ursula Academy and fell 13-8.

Waverly Milliman and Julia Poligone stepped up to the plate in a big way. Milliman went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI, while Poligone went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Olivia Caselli also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Irondequoit lost 15-1 to Our Lady of Mercy two weeks ago.

Irondequoit saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Cooley, who went 2-for-3 with one double.

Fairport's loss dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Irondequoit, they now have a losing record of 1-2.

Fairport took their victory against Irondequoit in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 16-7 score. Will the Red Raiders repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
