Football Game Preview: New Braunfels Unicorns vs. Boerne-Champion Chargers

After each having a week off, the New Braunfels Unicorns and the Boerne-Champion Chargers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in New Braunfels' favor is that they have posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.

New Braunfels barely beat Victoria East the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Unicorns blew past the Titans 42-3 two weeks ago. The result was nothing new for the Unicorns, who have now won four matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for New Braunfels, racking up 11 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of GRANT FRANKLIN, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Meanwhile, Boerne-Champion earned a 57-50 victory over Seguin last Friday.

New Braunfels better keep an eye on Caleb Farias. He was instrumental in Boerne-Champion's win, rushing for 167 yards and two scores while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Farias was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards.

Boerne-Champion was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 303 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since the start of last season.

New Braunfels' win was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.8 points over those games. As for Boerne-Champion, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

New Braunfels strolled past Boerne-Champion in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a score of 49-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Unicorns since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
