Baseball Game Preview: Hilltop Lancers vs. Otay Ranch Mustangs

For the second straight game, Hilltop will face off against Otay Ranch. The Lancers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The last six games Hilltop has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

On Wednesday, Hilltop didn't have quite enough to beat Otay Ranch and fell 5-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Lancers in their meetings with the Mustangs: they've now lost four in a row.

For Otay Ranch's part, they got a great performance from Sebastian Magana as he pitched 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. What's more, Magana posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Nick Mendoza was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Otay Ranch, bringing their record up to 16-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Hilltop, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.
