Skyline quarterback Jake Heaps appears to be narrowing in on decision; State baseball, soccer tournaments begin this week; Lakeside continues lacrosse dynasty.
Washington now has, what many advocates say, is the nation's toughest law regarding sports concussions.
Governor Chris Gregoire signed the law Thursday which prohibits athletes under 18 who may have a concussion from playing without approval from a licensed health care provider.
The Washington Interscholastic Activities Association will work with the state's school districts to develop standards for the law and educate coaches, players and parents about the dangers of concussions.
The law's namesake is Zackery Lystedt of Maple Valley. The 16-year-old suffered a life-threatening brain injury after returning to a football game with a concussion in 2006.
