Basketball Recap: Kennedy Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Kennedy came into Saturday's game having lost five straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They walked away with a 44-34 win over the Kings Christian Crusaders on Saturday.

Kennedy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Zikeem Dozer out in front who went 5 of 10 en route to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Miguel Galvan, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Kennedy was working as a unit and finished the game with ten assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Kings Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Andrew Ortega had 14 points along with six boards and three steals. Ortega is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Russell Martin, who earned no points and four steals.

Kennedy's win bumped their record up to 6-9. As for Kings Christian, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 15-4.

Kennedy has already played their next match, a 45-40 defeat against Taft on the 21st. As for Kings Christian, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 62-34 victory against Wonderful College Prep Academy on the 22nd.
