Baseball Recap: Lumberton Has No Trouble Against Jefferson Davis County

It was a proper cat-fight when Lumberton duked it out with Jefferson Davis County on Saturday. The Lumberton Panthers were the clear victor by a 12-0 margin over the Jefferson Davis County Jaguars. Considering the Panthers have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Tyler Morrison, who scored three runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March of 2024. Landon Knight also deserves some recognition as he stolen his first stolen base of the season.

Lumberton's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-0-1.

Lumberton and Jefferson Davis County's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. Lumberton and Forrest County Agricultural (who has only given up 3.8 runs per game) will meet at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Lumberton's pitching crew has only allowed 1.8 runs per game this season, so Jefferson Davis County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Jefferson Davis County will take on Sacred Heart at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, a squad that's only allowed three runs per game.
