Basketball Game Preview: Canyon Hills Rattlers vs. Point Loma Pointers + How To Watch

The Canyon Hills Rattlers will venture away from home to take on the Point Loma Pointers at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Canyon Hills is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Tuesday, Canyon Hills earned a 47-39 win over Bonita Vista.

Canyon Hills' success was spearheaded by the efforts of London Waggoner, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 15 points, and Sophia Wilson, who posted 12 points and four steals. Wilson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last seven games she's played dating back to last season. Ciana Everett also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Canyon Hills smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in 12 consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Point Loma got the win against Del Lago Academy on Tuesday by a conclusive 37-16.

Point Loma found their leader in sophomore River Hargett, who went 7-for-12 on her way to 14 points and five rebounds. Hargett also set a new season-high mark in shooting accuracy with 58%. Hannah Smith was another key player, putting up six points and eight boards.

Point Loma now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Canyon Hills, their record is now 6-0.

Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a scrappy contest: Canyon Hills hasn't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 5.7 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Point Loma, though, as they've been averaging 23 turnovers. Given Canyon Hills' sizable advantage in that area, the Pointers will need to find a way to close that gap.

Canyon Hills was able to grind out a solid victory over Point Loma in their previous meeting back in January, winning 29-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rattlers since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
