Basketball Game Preview: Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors vs. University Bulldogs

The Eagle Ridge Academy Warriors will face off against the University Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.

Eagle Ridge Academy is headed into the matchup out to prove that what happened against Colorado Academy on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Eagle Ridge Academy was outmatched by Colorado Academy and fell 53-23. The Warriors haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Despite the loss, Eagle Ridge Academy had strong showings from Jaz Greenwood, who posted five points and eight steals, and Madi DiLorenzo, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds. Greenwood is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Meanwhile, University put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They came out on top against Resurrection Christian by a score of 50-38.

University's win came from a few key players Eagle Ridge Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Natalie Trujillo, who earned nine points along with six boards and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddie McNair, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten rebounds.

Eagle Ridge Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 8-15. As for University, their victory bumped their record up to 23-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Eagle Ridge Academy has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 40.3 boards per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.5 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.

Eagle Ridge Academy was dealt a bruising 55-15 loss at the hands of University in their previous matchup back in March of 2022. Can Eagle Ridge Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
