Football Game Preview: West Iredell Warriors vs. Pisgah Bears

The West Iredell Warriors will challenge the Pisgah Bears at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pisgah took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on West Iredell, who comes in off a win.

West Iredell is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Ashe County 45-0. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won five matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

Amario Spence continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 87 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries, while also picking up 61 receiving yards. Ja'Braylan Patterson was another key player, throwing for 182 yards and two TDs while completing 77.8% of his passes.

West Iredell didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Ashe County to a completion percentage of just 45.6%. The team can thank Jaquan Wasson for the heroic effort on defense: he. West Iredell has been improving in that area: they had allowed a completion percentage of 0.63 earlier this season, but they've only allowed one of 0.63 in their last three games.

Meanwhile, Pisgah fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Brevard two weeks ago but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 36-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Blue Devils. The Bears' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Pisgah's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for West Iredell, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Friday's game might be decided on the ground. West Iredell has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 180.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pisgah struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 233.3 rushing yards.
