Recap: Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles vs. Chesnee Eagles
With a playoff game on the line, the Gray Collegiate Academy War Eagles rose to the challenge on Friday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 62-14 victory over Chesnee. 62 seems to be a good number for Gray Collegiate Academy as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
Leading Gray Collegiate Academy to victory were Bj Montgomery and Dre'von Dopson. Montgomery rushed for 150 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, while Dopson threw for 79 yards and three touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes. Caleb Ford also deserves a shout-out for his three touchdowns.
Gray Collegiate Academy's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB 6.5 times. Kaine Williams was especially locked on to Chesnee's QB and sacked him twice.
The win makes it two in a row for Gray Collegiate Academy and bumps their season record up to 14-3. As for Chesnee, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-6 record this season.
Gray Collegiate Academy will face off against Strom Thurmond at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Strom Thurmond has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 314 points over their last seven matchups. Chesnee does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
