Softball Recap: Montour Takes a Loss

Montour was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They came up short against the South Fayette Lions, falling 18-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 6-3 two weeks ago.

Montour saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cayley Hughes, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That home run was Hughes' first of the season. Another was Hailey Staub, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.

Montour's loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1. As for South Fayette, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Montour is set to challenge their familiar foe Chartiers Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, South Fayette will square off against rival West Allegheny at 3:45 p.m. on Friday.
