Basketball Recap: Carolina International Takes a Loss

Carolina International extended their losing streak to four on Friday, dropping them down to 2-8. They were dealt an 84-39 loss at the hands of the Queen's Grant Stallions. While losing is never fun, the Comets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 470th, while the Stallions are ranked 26th).

As for Queen's Grant, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-3. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Queen's Grant got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Bobby Montgomery III out in front who made all 6 shots he took to post 17 points and six assists. That's the most assists Montgomery III has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Mekhi Allen, who went 9-for-13 on his way to 19 points.

Looking ahead, Carolina International will take on Central Cabarrus in a tournament on Saturday. The Comets will be up against the Vikings' rather soft defense (which has allowed 71.13 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Queen's Grant will take on Blythewood in a holiday battle at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
