Soccer Game Preview: Lafayette vs. Newberry

The Lafayette Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Newberry Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Friday, Lafayette sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over Branford. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Hornets.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Newberry's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and Williston finished up on equal footing with a 3-3 draw. The result kept the Panthers happy, as they haven't lost a game since November 18th.

They hit Williston with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Lucas Arnold, Maximus Dietz, and Dylan Mobbs.

Lafayette has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. With that draw, Newberry's record moves to 7-2-1.

Lafayette suffered a grim 7-1 defeat to Newberry in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Lafayette avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
