Soccer Game Preview: Columbia vs. Suwannee

The Columbia Tigers will challenge the Suwannee Bulldogs at 7:20 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Columbia has four straight victories, Suwannee has five straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the pitch.

Columbia's defense heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Williston 1-0. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Red Devils are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Columbia's one-goal win came courtesy of Robert Shotwell, who's now up to two this season.

Meanwhile, Suwannee fell victim to Maclay and their airtight defense on Monday. They came up short against the Marauders, falling 11-0.

Columbia has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2-2 record this season. As for Suwannee, their loss dropped their record down to 2-8-1.

Columbia took their victory against Suwannee in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a conclusive 3-0. Will Columbia repeat their success, or does Suwannee have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
