Basketball Recap: Hempstead Takes a Loss

Hempstead was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 72-65 to the Waterloo West Wahawks. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa basketball rankings (they are ranked 216th, while the Wahawks are ranked 43rd).

Hempstead's defeat dropped their record down to 2-11. As for Waterloo West, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Hempstead will head out to take on Cedar Falls at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Falls knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Hempstead likes a good challenge. As for Waterloo West, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Wahlert at 7:30 p.m. Wahlert has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with three straight losses, while Waterloo West will come in with four straight wins.
