Baseball Recap: Pius XI Catholic Takes a Loss

After flying high against Augustine Prep last Tuesday, Pius XI Catholic came back down to earth. The Popes came up short against the University School of Milwaukee Wildcats on Thursday, falling 14-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Popes of the 5-1 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2022.

Vaughn Weber was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run while going 3-for-5. The team also got some help courtesy of Morgan Gillitzer, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Pius XI Catholic's loss was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-1.

Looking ahead, Pius XI Catholic will be playing at home against Waukesha North at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University School of Milwaukee, they are packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Shorewood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
