Softball Recap: St. Joseph Notre Dame Snags Ninth Win in Last Ten Games

While St. Joseph Notre Dame put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for University. The Pilots were the clear victors by an 18-0 margin over the Red Devils. The result was nothing new for the Pilots, who have now won 11 matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cassandra Sanchez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Reagan Bowman was incredible, going 2-for-5 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Zora Oliverius, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs.

St. Joseph Notre Dame is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.4 runs over those games. As for University, they dropped their record down to 4-13 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. St. Joseph Notre Dame will challenge Hayward at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for University, they will take on Design Tech at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Dragons will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Red Devils surely won't give up without a fight.
